I began a little face-to-face writing group a few months ago. It was to help other writers pen a book from start to finish. I figured it would be nice to pay it forward. Plenty of people have helped my writing journey to enable me to complete three novels (plus plenty more idle manuscripts). Now I can pass on what I know (pitfalls and all) to keen writers.
The group is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PSwriteyourbook/ and it’s free.
Yes, it is called Peregian Springs Writer’s Group but in light of us having to go virtual we are encouraging others to join. We will focus on:
- Turn ideas into stories
- What’s your niche?
- Plot a novel
- Plan a non-fiction book
- Complete a memoir
- Write regularly
- Finding the right words
- Drafts and edits (grammar and more)
- Publishing your book
It doesn’t matter where a writer is at. They may not have written a word yet, or they could have completed a whole manuscript. I facilitate and the group learn, support, encourage, collaborate, chat, have fun – and most importantly write.
We have both fiction and non-fiction writers and I’m catering to both styles (I do have a few non-fiction manuscripts started). So if you’re keen to finish a book maybe you should join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/PSwriteyourbook/
Yesterday Laura Pettigrew wrote a featured in Sunshine Coast Daily where the group was mentioned.
I spoke to Des Deighton on 104.9 Sunshine FM this morning and we discussed the writing group and why it began. You can tune in at 10.30 am Monday morning at Sunshine FM
Thank you to both these journalists for picking up the story.
